Sleep retreat in Morocco

A sleep retreat in Morocco,
built around one night.

A sleep retreat does not need a week of treatments. It needs an evening without screens, a place dark and silent enough to deserve the night, and a morning with nowhere to be. We design it for groups from twelve.

Why the night is the whole programme

Travel is hard on sleep. A screen until late, a room that is never quite dark, a schedule that is too full, a dinner that runs long. We take those away one by one, instead of adding another treatment on top.

An evening without screens

Phones are put away at dinner, by choice, with the reason explained. The light is low and warm, and lanterns are the brightest thing left.

A place chosen for dark and silence

The Agafay desert lies forty minutes from Marrakech, under dark skies and with no village nearby. Deeper into the Sahara it is darker still. We choose the place for the night, not for the view.

A morning with nowhere to be

No alarm, no early departure. Tea, bread, and a short gentle movement for those who want it. Nothing is scheduled before the guests are up.

How the night is built

Four moments, in this order. The detail changes with the group, the place and the season.

Afternoon

Arrival, and a walk in daylight, outdoors, before anything else. Nothing is asked of anyone yet.

Evening

A light supper at a long table, herbal infusions, and for those who want it a hammam ritual. Phones go away.

Night

A bed made for sleeping, in a tent or a room with no light and no noise of its own. The silence is part of the design.

Morning

Slow, with tea and bread and a short gentle movement if you wish. The day begins when the group does.

Three ways to build it

Every format starts from twelve guests. Larger groups run in parallel circles of up to twenty.

One night

A night designed for sleep inside a week you already run. The simplest way to try it, and the easiest to add.

The two night immersion

Two nights and the day between. The first night in a new place is often a light one, so the programme is built for the second.

A sleep thread through a week

Five to seven days with sleep as the thread: movement in the morning, nothing late, and the night as the point of the day.

Who brings a group

A sleep retreat is a group format, so it starts with someone who already has a group.

Teachers and studios

A yoga, Pilates or breathwork teacher whose community asks for rest more than for effort.

Companies

A team that needs to recover rather than to be energised: a leadership group after a hard year, an offsite that ends better than it began.

Private circles

Friends, a family, an alumni circle, a club: a group that wants to be somewhere quiet together.

A better night, not a treatment

Umnya designs the night, chooses the places and tests every operator before it is offered. It is not a clinic and not a medical programme: we diagnose nothing and treat nothing. Anyone who is worried about their sleep should speak to a doctor before travelling.

Sleep is one of the fastest growing segments of the wellness economy (Global Wellness Institute, 2026).

One sleep brand can partner with the programme for a year: the bed, the bedding or the technology of the night, shown in a real setting rather than on a stand. If your brand works on sleep, write to us. Brand partnerships →

Sleep retreat in Morocco: the questions people ask

What is a sleep retreat?
A stay built around sleeping better rather than around activities: the evening, the place and the morning are designed for it. Ours is a group format of one night, two nights or a week, with no clinic, no diagnosis and no treatment.
Where is the sleep retreat held in Morocco?
In places chosen for darkness and silence: a camp in the Agafay desert, forty minutes from Marrakech, the Atlas foothills, or the Sahara for longer stays, with a Marrakech riad for groups that prefer walls. The place depends on the group and the season.
Is it a medical programme?
No. It is a night designed for sleep: no screens, a dark and silent place, herbal infusions, a slow morning. We diagnose nothing and treat nothing, and anyone worried about their sleep should speak to a doctor first.
How many nights does it take?
One night inside a programme you already run, two nights as an immersion, or a sleep thread through five to seven days. The first night in a new place is often a light one, which is why we recommend two.
Can I come on my own?
We run groups from twelve guests, so a single traveller joins a group rather than booking a night. Tell us the season you have in mind below and you will hear about the dates before they are published.
When is the best time to go?
Spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the easiest, with warm days and cool nights. Winter nights in the desert are cold and high summer days are hot, so we choose the place for the season.
Do I have to give up my phone?
For the evening and the night, that is the idea. Phones are put away at dinner and come back in the morning. It is a choice, explained on arrival, and nobody is policed.
What does it cost?
No amount is published here, because it depends on the place, the season and the size of the group. You are given it with the dates, or in the first conversation if you bring a group.
Can a sleep brand partner with the programme?
Yes. The programme can carry one sleep brand as its partner for a year: the bed, the bedding or the technology of the night, shown in a real setting rather than on a stand. Brands write to us through the brand partnerships page.
Can I bring my own group?
Yes, and that is how most of these weeks start: a teacher, a studio, a company or a circle of friends with twelve people or more. A thirty minute call, and a first design within the week.

Before the dates exist

Tell us when. We will tell you where.

We open a small number of weeks each season. Choose the window you have in mind and what you come for, and you will hear about those dates before they are published.
