Umnya

The concept

Umnya

A wish, a word, a way of living longer.

The word

A wish that became a journey.

In Tamazight, the language of the Amazigh nomads of the Sahara and the Atlas, Umnya means wish. The deep, instinctive desire to live longer, live better, live truer. Not a goal. Not a plan. A pull.

We built a retreat around that pull. Not a wellness holiday, not a spa break, not a protocol delivered in a clinic. A journey into a landscape where the way people have lived for a thousand years happens to match what modern longevity science is now describing: move every day, eat from the earth, sleep with the sun, gather around fire, walk in silence, live in rhythm.

The nomads did not invent longevity. They practised it. We bring you to where they still do.

Three forces

Three forces. One wish.

Umnya is not a retreat company. It is a convergence, where studio expertise, ancient nomad practice, and extraordinary landscape meet for eight days.

01

Studios & Clubs

Europe's leading wellness, movement, and longevity studios bring their community, their coaches, their philosophy. They co-brand the edition, curate the group, and shape the programme. Umnya handles the landscape, the logistics, the culture, and the practitioners on the ground.

One studio per edition. Category exclusivity guaranteed.

02

Local practitioners

Every Umnya edition is supported by a team of Moroccan practitioners chosen for what they carry, not what they sell. Amazigh herbalists. Berber guides. Sahrawi nomads. Women from the Dadès cooperatives. Musicians from the Atlas. Their knowledge is the cultural infrastructure of every retreat.

Local, named, paid fairly, present throughout.

03

The landscape

The Sahara at Erg Chigaga. The High Atlas at altitude. The Atlantic at Taghazout. The Rose Valley at bloom. Each landscape is chosen for what it does to a body and a nervous system over eight days, the air, the light, the silence, the temperature swings, the food, the sleep, the walking distances.

Place is the practice.

What this is

What longevity means at Umnya.

We do not run a longevity clinic. We do not measure your biomarkers. We do not prescribe protocols.

What we do is place you, for eight days, in conditions that the contemporary science of longevity has begun to describe with precision: daily movement in nature, unprocessed food eaten locally, sleep aligned with sunrise and sunset, exposure to temperature and altitude variation, stretches of real silence, and a small group of people you share meals with from beginning to end.

These are not Umnya inventions. They are how the Amazigh nomads of southern Morocco have lived for a thousand years. They are also, by accident or by design, six of the most consistent determinants of healthy lifespan in the peer-reviewed literature.

The studio you come with brings the practice. We bring the conditions. You bring yourself.

The setting

Three landscapes. Three nervous systems.

The Saharan nomads have practised these conditions for centuries without naming them. Walking at dawn. Eating from the earth. Sleeping under open sky. Gathering around fire. We place you in their landscape, guided by their people, eating from their cooperatives, listening to their music. The culture is not an excursion. It is the retreat.
